I have a 00' Scrambler 400 4x4. So far I've installed the HPD pipe and clutch kit, K&N filter with precharger. I'm looking to get some new reeds. Which ones should I get? The Boyesen Rad valve or the Delta V-Force with the spacer kit? Also I'm running a 250 main with a 30 pilot with this set up and it seems to load up a little on the low end. I have only gone through the one tank of premixed gas because of the break-in, I was running 93 octane. Once I got the revs up it kicked butt. Do you think I just need to run some more straight gas through it? I think the pilot only goes down to 30.

I'm running the V-Force Delta 2's with a carb spacer and am very happy with the set up. As for jetting, I had basicly the same setup, with a 250 MJ and a 30PJ, but I was running the stock silencer / spark arrestor and that may make mine a little richer. Check the plug and let the engine tell you.

Quadfather,

What are you basing your recommendation on the Delta V-force reeds over the Boyesen Rad valve? I'm interested in one of these, and the prices are very close. Have you ridden with a Boyesen Rad valve installed, or are you just so satisfied with the Delta that you don't think it gets any better? Thanks for your answer.

I have never had Boyesen's in my quad, I had two friends that did, and they were disatisfied with them. They are currently switching to the V-Force.

Go with the V Force Delta 2's and a spacer,
The mid range improvement is very noticable. It's one of those modifications that helps through out the RPM range without killing off any low end power.
I have had mine set on low tension since I installed them, and haven't bothered to experiment.

For anybody that may be interested, I just finished talking with Darrell at HPD. They are developing a Reed valve conversion for the 250 trailblazer. He said it may be available by late fall or early next year.
GOOOOO HPD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a difference! After putting the v-force reeds and spacer kit in I feel like I got a new machine. It cleaned up the bottom end, which was running alittle rich after the hpd pipe, I had the 30 PJ put in with the pipe and I was getting some hesitation. I may have to go up on the main jet, I'll have to run it some more and watch the plug, it seemed to be running great but the plug tells all.
