Default 04 400 sp spark plug gap

I just recently changed my NGK spark plug on my 400 sportman, when I took the old one out it was gapped at .028 the new one in the box was also gapped at .028 NGK web site says it should be at .028, but Polaris owner manual says it should be .035, which way should it be gapped ?
