Now that it has reverse. Is it the best trail atv out there? It has great power, awesome suspension, very stable, turns on a dime, no bump steer, many high quality stock parts, and now can go backwards. The Z is a very good trail atv, and I'm sure it's right there too. But for $400 price difference, it still seems the Pred has more to offer, especially if it has the 50hp that Polaris say's it has.

Dammit, I wish Polaris would have put reverse on the 03/04 Predators. It would be so much easier riding trails. But it does sound like the '05 would be the best trail quad. Polaris just keeps getting better and better at making there machines more advanced. What could they do to the 06 pred to make it even better? That'll be interesting.

 

I wish that polaris make some kind of reverse kit to put on the 03 and 04 preds.

Yeah, reverse would have been cool to have on the thinner trails, but once you get good at turning the backend around fast, it's not really a problem. I think a kit would have been handy also.

 

i would say NO,auto scrammy are still at home in the trails.

 

Some trails never need revrse. Like at Haspin always seems there is an "out" available. If I had never owned a DS (can't give up this motor & reliability) I'd buy a Predator before any other quad currently out. It's the best trail quad I believe. It's bigger than the Z400 which I like.

 

For the person that is not pushing the limits (***** to the wall) the Scrambler is great.
You fatique too quickly on a scrambler if you are pushing it.

A 05 Pred would be hard to beat, It would certainly be my favorite. You wouldn't have to work as hard to go fast.

 

I have ridden both and as nice as the Predator is the Z400 makes one heck of a nice trail quad. The tranny shifting is silky smooth one of the best out there. The engine is also very smooth, It may not be as fast as a Predator but it is one nice package. The Predator comes with some nicer items like a wider and better axle and a-arms but wider is not always better on some trails. I think they are both nice machines and some one wouldn't go wrong with either one.
