Mounting GPS

I bought the Magellan too. Got the Meridian color with a 128 mg card and the topo software. I can see every side street, back alley, and pond in the state of Oklahoma. I have it mounted on the bicycle mount. Like Hondabuster said, don't wipe the screen off with your glove, or it'll sure scratch. Me...I just pop mine out of the mount at a stream crossing and give it a quick rinse every once in awhile.

What GPS units are not immune to is the vibration. After time, your GPS' internal parts will start to loosen causing malfunctions. Either get a shock-absorbing mount or put the gps in a handy spot in your pack(What I do).
These guys are pricey but they have some very good options. The barmount map holder is awesome.
Since my primary use for GPS has been to map out trails, I have also added an external antennae to my GPSMAP 76s that is mounted to the top of my backpack. This gives me a better more reliable signal.
I paid $300 for unit and didn't like the idea of trusting it to a $15 mount but, that's just the way I look at it.
