jackshaft??

I decided last night that I am going to put a jackshaft on my bike and i was wondering if anyone had any tips or anything i should know before attempting this ?? I had one idea that I"ve never heard of before but i think i may try is to put a new brake disc and caliper right on the jackshaft and get rid of the brake on the axle, has anyone seen this before?

I did this exact conversion on a snomo quad i built this past winter.I used a double shaft setup, you really don't lose that much weight by going to a jackshaft,it does give you some extra room back there.I used a jackshaft because the motor was a 700cc rotax twin cylinder, and the carbs came out the back. The carbs would not clear the tranny. It takes some work, but it can be done.I have pic's of it also.

If you do a single shaft across the secondary would have to be real low on the side ,in other words look where the shaft is coming out of the tranny, the secondary would have to be mounted straight across from the sprocket. That's why we used the double shaft.Shoot me an e-mail the pic's will explain the rest.

what do you think about having the brake on it? I'm not sure if there would be room for it yet but the concept makes sense my rear brake would no longer be unsprung weight.
