i have a 1999 polaris 400 sport. i shut it off for about 10 minutes and started it up and took off. i got about 1/2 mile down the road and it got kinda loud and power went down alot then it died. i went to pull start it and I CANT PULL IT AT ALL!!! it is usually easy to start 1 to 2 pulls but im affraid i cant even get the pull rope to move now. its 2 cycle.

does anyone have any clue what happened? and if so whats the best way to go about fixing it? im pretty sure the oil injectors failed and it was running on straight gas and locked up but im no mechanic and thats just a guess.

Sounds like you locked the motor up.How long ago did you chek the counter balance oil?Did it run out of oil?Could have broke the piston if it was still stock.

 

I don't think this is your problem, but my sons quad just recently did the same thing. I couldn't even pull the motor over. Took the top end off and it wasn't that ,so we ended up taking the flywheel off and the stator had broke off and the magnet of the flywheel was broken. It was all jambed up.........go figure.

 

Hey 1fast, how do you like your stroker 400? And how long have you been running it?

 

1 fast did you go straight to the stroker motor or was it just ported first and then stroked?

 

I love my stroker! It is on race fuel only. I have been running it for about a year now. I use to have a race mod done by Dennis and then I rode a power max that Dennis had at the dunes and then I wanted more. So I went with the stroker and she flys. I like it much more than the max because the stroker has the power all the way thru and keeps on pullin. So yes I had it all ported before. He does a little more to it once he strokes it. What is really an impressive bike is the 250. What a huge difference. He doesn't have my 12mm finished yet... cant waite...Luv to race shees

 

how many lenghts do you think you picled up when you stroked it?

 

Well I don't do much drag racing, but I usually run the hill at the sand dunes. I am about 2- 3 bike lengths ahead. My bike really shines more on the hill. I havent got the clutch dialed in yet for the drags. All I do is spin , but I just spend most of my time at the sand dunes. I raced a banshee about a month ago and keeped beating him about a bike length every time. He told me later he had it 7mm stroked.....the feelling was greaat

 

I guess it all depends on the race mod that I am racing. Every mod runs different
