how long have you been jumping it? I have just replaced my chain on my 95. Been racing it for 6years. When I jump I try not to have the power on. kinda feather it. then pin it after rears touch the ground. I think you can also strech the chain but not being on the gas just not as soon. If he is on the gas when jumping I belive it will do what you are talking about an when it gets the chain streched then it will skip over the gears an you can hear it an feel it. I guessing it might have been bad for awhile. Hope this helps
