Default Reed problem?

my 1996 polaris scrambler 400 was running fine and then all of a sudden it wouldn't start again. I have checked and even replaced spark plugs. I flushed and replaced the gas. It seems like it is not getting gas even when I squirt some into the carb, I can't get it to fire. There don't seem to be any suction when I cover the suction part of the carb, but plenty of compression at the cylinder head. Could this be bad reeds? Or any other suggestions. Thanks

OK, 90 or 100 lbs of compression can seem plenty to people but not be enough. Pull the carb and reeds and look for a torn boot or bad reeds first. The boot is old enough to have a nice tear in it unless it's been replaced before. If all that seems to be OK, then pull the pipe off the cylinder and take a look inside. Either that or a compression test should give you an answer.Hope this helps,Bubba
