LONG LIVE THE KING

It may be your king but not mine!!!I like my Rancher alot more.I am sure that the 700CC Sportsman will be even heavier than the current 700+lb.Sportsman.In my state of Pa. the Sportsman is not even classified as an ATV because it weighs over 600 lbs.If Polaris would engineer their ATV's
like Honda and keep them under 600lbs.then i would consider them the King Utility ATV.Anyone can build something and not really worry about how much it weighs.Another thing that bothers me is those sled pulls that Polaris does so well in.Of course they will Pull more than anybody else because they Weigh more than anybody else. Also they should use a dead weight instead of a gradually sliding weight then we will se how the belt holds up !!!I do not know of any towing or pulling situations in "real world" conditions that the weight of the object being pulled shifts from rear to front while pulling. My friend has a Y2K Sportsman that has already destroyed two belts while pulling dead weight. This Limited Lifetime belt warranty, does it include trailside assistance or will they still need to be towed in ???

I haven't owned or ridden a Polaris, so I can say if its king or not. But I'm sure happy with my Grizzly. I think it is still king of the 4x4 quads. At least in size and power. Haven't slipped or burned up my drive belt yet, and with all that power and lack of excess weight, I do most of my wheel'in in high range. I sure like being able to ride the engine down hill without having to use the brakes also. Speaking of a 700 Polaris, I saw a picture of a V-max quad in an ATV magazine a few weeeks ago. Would'nt that be cool, a 150 HP quad! I imagine that one would probably weigh as much as a Polaris!

bzizzi,
Utility quads should be heavy, or they couldn't pull anything for lack of traction.
The problem with burning belts on Polaris' is usually that people don't know how to use the system, especially not using the low range when it is needed.
And I rather replace a belt (which can be done on the trail, under 10 minutes, with the supplied tools) than replace a clutch on a standard transmission. And compare the cost of a belt to your average clutch kit...
Just my $.02

Burning belt are caused by owner error, people not using low range for what it is intended. As for heavy I like the fact of th weight, you really don't even notice it at all. And it helps when pulling other people out of mudholes. sure would not want a 350 lb atv when pulling out a very stuck Honda Foreman now would we?
