my brother and i just installed violet primary clutch springs in our quads, hes got a 500 and i have a 400 scrammy same year. this weekend at sand lake we were out running ******* on the beach. his couldnt stand up but mine would ***** right from the get go. he says he can even get his off the ground. i tried and coudnt either. hes says it feels no diff. then his stock plain one. any suggestions as to if its the right spring color or what color does he need.
thanks

On the 500 if you arent changing anything but the primary spring go with a polaris green or white and set the secondary at 2-2.The purple spring has too much engagment for the 4 stroke and not enough shift rate.On the 400 with only a spring change try either a brown or yellow with the secondary at 2-2.

you say use a brown or yellow spring for primary with secondary 2-2 what will that do for me as for performance. i just bought the purple as recommended by others on the forum. someone said that with a stock pipe and silencer that this purple spring would make excellent use of powerband vs. losing rpms with stock spring. im open for all recommendations, i just dont need a collection of primary springs and im not getting a pipe real soon, maybe down the road when i can afford to do it right.
thanks for your time.

You have to take thee back clutch apart and set the preload tension at 2-2.I would recomend you to get a service manual. The springs I mentioned have a hi shiftrate. You may be happy on your stock 400 with a green primary spring. It is one step up from stock.

What did you think of the voilet spring? Did you gain some performance? I did not expect you to get one for a 500. They are a different animal all together. The Green primary on the 500 is a good way to go. The brown on the 400 is not a huge difference over stock. If you like the violet stick with it.

someone else told me to maximize the power of a stock pipe and silencer to use the violet one. that it would utilize more of the natural power vs. loss of rpms with the stock one. i posed the question to the other polaris owners on this forum. it seemed to allow me to hook up good. it takes more to engage but when the powerband hits your pretty much right in the sweet spot. any insight?
