Default how can i make a polaris clutch puller for an '87 trailboss?

I was just wondering what i can do to make a puller for that model. Like i was wondering how do i figure out the threads and bolt size to use. i already did a search on this topic and some poeple said i could use a 3/8 extension in the hole and then find the bolt size and thread pattern and thread the bolt into the hole and use the 3/8 extension to push it off the crank. So basically i was wondering when i went into the hardware store what do i tell them when they ask what i need. thanks for any help.
I also have a '93 350L 4x4 and was wondering what i would need to make a puller for that. thanks.

Just put a washer under the bolt end to protect the end of the crankshaft, and you will be fine.

It is 3/4 inch, fine thread. Same size as the 3/4 shank trailer ball you may already have lying around. If the shank is long enough, it can be used as a puller, if need be.

by the time you get the proper direction from someone, and figure out how to make one, you could have ordered one and had it delivered.

time is money. just buy one. that way you know it will work. and work again if need be.

i just bought one from ritter $25, but you can get them from hpd, dennis kirk, and various other places for around the same price.

Well the one I made all I used is a peaice of rebar 4 1/2 inches long and went down to the hardware store and got a 3 1/2 3/4 bolt and just stuck the shaved peice of rebar in it and then put tightened down the bolt and it came off now problem ... Ive also heard that the ball off your hitch is the same kind of thread ... hope this helps Austin

Another way to make a puller. When you pull the cover off like you are changing the clutch spring there are threads for the star nut that holds the clutch together you can make a pull that uses those threads. I use a short piece of steel pipe threaded inside pipe thread. t will screw right on then I welded an three jaw pull to it in the center. Works really good an an was cheap for me to build. I had a clutch where the center of it was striped out.

Find the correct spacing, then screw in a 3/4 ball hitch. Ball hitches come in many sizes, 3/4 being very popular. It's the same thread. I did this while waiting on my puller to arrive . Also, many wheel/pulley/gear pullers use this size as the main. Just screw it out of the puller and put it back once your done
