2002 Polaris 700 V-Twin no spark PLEASE HELP
#1
OK.... I have an 02 sportsman 700 v twin that I had to change the water pump seal and the oil seal out. To get to the oil seal you have to take the flywheel off and then the case behind the stator. So before I removed the flywheel to split the case the atv ran fine and never had a spark issue. After replacing the seals and putting the atv back together I have no spark. What could have happened? The atv only has 120 hrs and like I said the bike was fine before it was removed. I wouldn't think the stator can just go when it wasn't even the issue being worked on. I know people say the ducati parts are junk but im assuming its not my stator, but maybe something else I did. PLEASE HELP
Thanks ,

Maybe something wasn't put together exactly right and I know OPT will probably have specific advice but almost time there is any sort of spark, ignition, rough running, etc. it is the Ducati ignition. Mine went bad just sitting from 1 hour to the next.....

Ducati ignitions are junk.I wouldn't even bother trouble shooting the problem as you can't find a new stator for one anyway if it's the part that's bad. You're lucky you weren't stranded out somewhere like many have been. Some killed them only to go back later and never have them start back up.Big600twin has already been through this. The updated Kokusan ignition changes it to a dci ignition system which is more efficient, will crank up faster, plus many report a little better gas mileage. There is a RM stator kit out there that's cheaper, but it uses the Ducati lighting coil for the ignition source and I've had these coils go out also. Then you're stuck again.Better to just change it all out.
