Headlight conversion kits?
#1
does anyone know how to make one of these "headlight conversion kits", I found a kit on ebay which showed the picture of the "kit" which came with two scotch lock connectors and a jumper wire with two different color wires and some heatshrink tubing covering some sort of splice in the center. are these "kits" just two pieces of wire with a diode spliced in or what. if anyone knows could you please let the rest of us know how to make and install our own kits so we can quit making all those freekin ebayers rich.

What type of headlight coversion are we talking about? How to get both lights on at the same time? Im pretty sure you just take the wires from 1 and tap em on to the other one. Which might mean that only the switch would work in 1 mode.

just take a toggle switch and splice into the yellow and green wires. it's about 99 cents for a switch, when you trip the switch and turn the lights on all three wil light or off it will work as originally designed.

thanks, I am gonna try this either tonight or tomarrow. so let me get this strait. I just take the two diodes and twist them together parrallel or inline with each other. then solder them to a piece of yellow wire and green wire then splice that into the yellow and green wires on the quad with 3m scotch locks? and this worked on yours right? the wires can be found inside the guage pod under the plastic?

well I've got good news and bad news. the good news is that I stopped by radio shack on the way home from work and they had the rectifier/diodes in stock
which were part number 276-1661. I borrowed the green and yellow wire from work and put them together tonight. the bad news is that I did not have time to install the kit on my 700 EFI tonight because it's to late at night to go over my father in laws house where I keep the quads. the diodes came in a pkg. of 4 so I made 4 headlight Kits. I am going to put one on both of my 700 EFI's. I used the pink heatshrink connectors to crimp the wire to the diodes I then heated the connectors to shrink the plastic and covered the diode and connectors with heatshrink wrap. I connected the green wire to the side of the diode with the silver stripe and the yellow wire to the black side of the diode. thank you all for the help and I will post another update tomarrow evening after I install the kits.
