Help if you can. I have a 2001 500HO Sportsman and the other day a few of us were messing around in a water hole and I got a little to deep. Well after it was pulled out I checked the oil, air box had a inch or so of water in it drained that then I fired it up, and all was fine untill I gave it some gas it runs but I can't get any rpms out of it. What can or should I be looking for?? Thanks

make sure you drain the belt housing. Sounds like it filled up with water and you can't go anywhere

Sorry should have said that also. I did pull the plug to make sure that there was no water in the cylinder. Also the belt housing has been removed as well.

I once owned a wolverene, that I sunk twice. Both times I had to change the oil 5 times, to finally get all the water out of the system.
Shes alrite, just make sure your good and flushed.

OK maybe I didn't say the things that I should have from the start. After my machine died in the water we pulled it out.
1. Checked the air box about 1 inch of water in it and drained
2. checked oil all good
3. pulled spark plug no water
4. drained belt housing
5. started machine (lots of water out of exaust)
6. let idle for a few minutes
7. tried to rev motor but it will not go much above idle.
