Default Transmission Fluid SP500 HO

Does anyone know what type of equivalent tranny fluid to use instead of the Polaris stuff? I have a 2003 500 HO and I have been told everything from 0-40 engine oil to 80-90 synthetic gear lube. Beacause the rear crankase is part of the tranny system (as far as lube goes) does it make sense to use the 80-90 or is there a tanny fluid out there that is fit for purpose for my machine???

Unless they changed the tranny on the newer ones, neither one is what you want. It uses chaincase lube just like a snowmobile. Amsoil Series 2000 chaincase lube is the way to go.

The Polaris AGL is just a synthetic Dexron III ATF.
It takes 948 milliliters (32 ounces) from dead empty.
You'll probobly only get about 26 ounces into it, as it's tough to get the snorkel empty.
If the drain plug has an aluminium washer, torque it to 16 foot pounds ot it'll leak.
If it's plastic, use a little thread sealant and 12 pounds of torque.
>You really can't go wrong if you stick to the Polaris lubricants - really.<
