400 scrambler vs. 450 YZF
i love scramblers, but i'm convinced enless u do engine work, aside from pipeing, clutching or anything w/ the carb or intake, it won't quite stack up, i sold my scrambler because 1 of the reason i just could'nt get the horse power i wanted, in search of buying a predator, i love the scrambler, & not a big fan of banshee riders, they're too cocky, but either way scramblers flat out need a lot of work & a lot of money put into them, but i just like a predator better anyways, yfz's r race quads, i've seen stock scrammys get smoked by pipeds utilitys, anyways HPD offer the best for polaris parts, but to do it right, & do a lot of it, it's not cheap.

well when you bring up the subject of money....
lets say i get a 1999 400 scrammy for 2000 dollars, my friend gets a YFZ for 6500...thats 4500 dollars difference you saved and if you take that 4500 that you saved and put it into the motor and the bike itself...you better watch out.

I bought my 02 400 4x4 scrammy used for 3400.00 and have about 1400.00 in mods. What I wanted was a very strong running 4x4 that would be on the sporty side. If I wanted a 2wd sport quad, I would buy a new Troy Lee Pred. My scrammy will run with most sport quads and is a great all around quad.
The new Pred has a lifetime warrenty on chain and axle.

1500 in mods for the hpd race mod isn't really that much compared to what alot of these 4 stroke guys put in there quads. Yammaslamma is right with that much money difference you could get the powermaxx setup and drop a lot of weight of the sport scrambler. Now people will say why would you want to do that, just buy a true sport quad. I love my auto and the 2 stroke so that's why I'm a polarisfreak. From what I have seen it doesn't take a hole lot to bring the yfz to life though, cams and alky really pick them up! Just pick your quad, do some mods and see ya at the drag strip!

Reading all this makes me think about getting my scrambler back out. I have been riding a bombardier. The auto was getting boring. But the scrammy does just cruzz down the track. I do have an aaen 440 with 39mm Mid porting girdle kit but i think its a hotseat pip i got off ebay. There wasn't much that beat the 440. I'ts just a smooth power flow, not quite like the race mods. Lets ride

ya YAMAHASLAMMA defantly has an excellent point, i like a clutch now, but i've also thouhg about maybe in a yr or 2, buy a stock 400 scrammy & go right through it, put tons of hpd stuff, but to each his own, and i had thought about my sinking money into it, after i posted, but hell, if ur havin fun i guess that's the best of it, i've seen a looking close to stock z-400 out drag a modded to hell 250r w/ a drag set up & all, i've become a 4-stroke, but either way i love polaris's all around.
