i tried putting , really hot water in the cover and letting it sit for a while , to no avail, was at a polaris shop just looking around and saw the mechanic working on a 425 4x4 mag,(own one of these too) he had clutch cover off and replacing for same reason, said you had to replace cause of heating warping etc,etc....but for 125 or 150 dollars for some plastic seems high .. so i thought i'd try something, maybe need to get tourch out ..thanks, are there any good places to purchase parts on the net resonably (i do have a polaris dealer close by and have ordered from before)

My 95 300 4x4 had the same issues. The clutch housing got hot because Mice had built nests in the air vent tubes. The cover got to hot and the soft plastic was sucked into the moving clutch. I tie-tied hardware cloth to cover the intake of both air vents (one runs up under the head light on mine). Of course, it could be cheap plastic that just ran out of life span, but the darn Mice are a constant fight for me.

Spend the $$$$$ on a new one and save all the head aches. But check a few differant dealers that price sounded a little on the high side. You should only need the outer cover.

You would not believe how many times I have seen this happen over the years.

Mice have cost Polaris owners a lot of money over the years.
