Default Low Beam + High Beam same time

I just came in from a 96km run and ran the last 3hrs in the dark. I set the switch between high and low and it worked great, lights up the trail much better with the three lights on plus I ran the hand warmers on low with out any problems.....

I bought the 3 headlight kit off ebay a year and a half ago for about $14. It was a wire with a diode and some wire ends and wire ties and instructions. It was very worth it and only took about 20 minutes to install. Low beam is front two rack lights. High beam is same two lights plus top light. Very bright with all three. It was my first mod.

I just bought a 04.5 sportsman 700 and would also like to reap the benefits of all three lights for the high beams. How would you do this and would there be any long term drawbacks like burning something out? Thanks for the input.

Wow, this subject has come up every week almost for four weeks strait.

Go here to see what you need to know

I went to Radio Shack and looked up this site did a search on lights and found the Radio Shack part number and asked the guy for them, paid and left. I have done two Sportsman: one 2003 500 HO and one 2000 500 non HO. Both work great. If I were doing it again I might be inclined to put a switch in, but I am unsure as to why. Heck I was just in there installing a new mini rocker switch (now I have the mini rocker and the remote) for my A2500 winch and could have done it then and did not, so it must not be too important to me to have the switch.

I put in a switch so i can have low / high or both ... since sometimes needed to use high as a spot light and didn't need the low beams on at the same time.

The info from Bik Kat's link is exactly what I used to build all the mods I've done. I bought a whole bunch of diodes (bulk through a component supplier) and have done so many of these, I lost count!! Not one failure or problem to date!! I've done all makes and models with a lighting system similiar to the three-light Polaris set up. These mods are so easy to do, I've even done them on the trail for people who inquired about my lights. I think about these folks on ebay getting big money for cheap parts really ticks me off!!! It's just plain robbery.

I'm NOT in the light mod business and DO NOT ebay these things. I've just been helping out my buddys and their buddys and so on, and so on.... The only money I've made on these mods is from "tips" when these guys want me to do the installation. Actually it's been more beer than money!!! I'll throw this out for you folks....

One time only deal.... I've got my last two "kits" wired up and if anyone wants them, I'm willing to let them go for what I have into them. (plus return postage of course.) No profit, just want to break even. They're 100% sealed using marine grade supplies, and ready to go. I P.M.'d Tom128 with this info so he has first shot at one of them if he chooses. So if you'd rather not go through the hassle (which it really isn't) of building one yourself, P.M. me and let's work out the details....
