I have a KandN, and I like it......as long as you keep it oiled, but you could buy an outerware for it. Or you can get a uni filter too, but generally kandn's are better in sand and dust, IMO

I have the K& N on both our quads, and run outerwears on them. I did run one of them without the outerwear for a weekend just to see what thye difference would be and its unbelieveable. Wit the outerwear I just removed it and blew it out with the air nozzle, the filter looked spotless. The one that was run without the outerwear was caked with dust and definitely needed washed out and recharged with oil. For the 14 or 15 bucks the outerwears cost, they are worth their weight in gold. And they make them for any filter that K&N or anyone else makes for that matter, or you can get them custom made to any size shape or color that you want.
http://www.outerwearsracing.com/custom_order.php is the link for custom ordering them. I'm actually even thinking of purchasing one for my F350 7.3 PSD.

As long as it has a redish color all the way around it you should be good. You can get a recharge kit with the special soap and spray on oil at just about any local automotive store for around 20 bucks. The K&N needs to be oiled well to function properly, so if you aren't sure i would just get the kit and spray it down good.

yamma......you can get all of this stuff down at Doug's, he can set you up, and his prices as cheap as anyone on K&N's

speedy63......The thing I wondered, was will I loose power by the prefilter, I don't mind cleaning my filter.....I just would like it to stay clean, and not loose any power.

As long as you keep the prefilter cleaned you should be ok. I haven't ever noticed a lack of power and the last time I blew out the prefilter is was all brown with dust.(It should be red like I bought it) I have heard that on some dirt track race cars that the airflow was reduced with a dusty prefilter but that there was very little resistance with a clean prefilter, but performance was not really affected with the dusty prefilter. I ride a lot in a lot of dust so I bought them for both bikes and have been pleased with them so far. They for sure cut down on filter maintenance.

yamma......When you go keep in mind of what you want your quad to do. When he sets up your clutch options, he will need to know what you want out of it.......such as high engagement(dragging),etc....Also I reccommend the K&N or UNI filters......if you go with kandn, get the little charger kit too(it has some cleaner and oil in it)......get a prefilter if you want, and yes you are probably going to have to rejet........you may also want a new plug.
