MODIFIED 700 VS STOCK 700
Me and my friend bought our 03 700 sportsman at the same time. When we first got them I could out run his by a little. His is still bone stock and has not turned a screw mine has all the mods listed below. I know I have more weight with the winch, bumpers and bigger tires but I have a clutch kit. We started at a dead stop and he jump right out of the hole and pretty much left me a few lengths. He can even beat me top end which I expected with the clucth I have but I tought I would beat him out of the hole boy was I wrong. Any suggestion on what to do?

I’ve found you can run REAL RICH (fuel is spitting out the tail pipe on my friends kids 90 and I could still wheelie) and still have lots of power. It’s your tires the 27” are a lot of rotating mass to get up and go … I bet you can’t stop as well as his … once you have those 27”ers spinning, their mass can carry you far.

Thats why I got a clucth kit for the big tires I figured with the clucth kit installed with the big tires it would big close to stock if not better. I can wheelie with the 27's in low it will stand stright up if I wanted. my friends will pull the front wheels but nothing like mine. Thats why I thought I would get him out of the hole.

IMO the clutch kit allows the engine to run a higher RPM quicker than the stock clutch ... so it makes up for the power lost to the 27" tires on the start ... but I’m sure it slows down the acceleration. i think your clutch kit = higher RPM more toque, but less top speed and acceleration.
These type of clutches have sooooo manyyyyy adjustments they can drive you crazy ... i use to have a Terra Tiger 6x6, i messed with the clutch system for years ... with the same engine and clutch i was able to spin all 6 tires from a stand still and have only a 10 mph top speed ... retune the clutch and get a 40 mph top speed but no power to turn the tires in the mud. You just have to play with it and get a happy medium.

I would have to agree with Rick and 500ho, the 27 inchers are killin you. Switch back and see.
Also what kind of "moddified stock exhaust" are you talking about? If you eliminate too much back pressure you will lose power. Also the Highlifters "big wheel" clutch kit is probably geared towards mudding etc...
