Default Pipes and silencers for scrambler 400's

I wanted to know if anybody had any input on pipes and other mods to START OUT on, I'm not looking to spend too much now, but in time.....any advice would be much appreciated, and I welcome biased opinions....they seem to be popular here on Forums

hpd...aaen...rcr.. are purty much equal pipes.....Just for kicks I raced 2 equal bikes. One with the dg and the other with the aaen and it was a dead even race..(no clutch kits) just pipes....go figure

Roughly what does a clutch kit and exhaust system cost? I'm planning on starting small then adding stuff as I get the time and money.

Its according what you wanna do with your bike.I started with the trail mod with the HPD trail pipe and stock silencer. It was very quick and much more fun to ride. But then I rode one with the race mod .I had to have that.I sold all my trail stuff on ebay and went all race.I LOVE IT.I race it and trail ride it.It is a handful on the trails but you can calm it down.I wish I would have waited and went with the race mod to start with.If you gonna do it man go all the way.LOL

a trail pipe is a good place to start. I have a trail pipe with race porting and it works extremely well.

Go with a pipe first and a clutch kit that work together. See my signature below and give Rick Ritter a call he will set you up with the parts and knowledge to get what you want out of it. The pipe and silencer is $255. Clutch kit $90 (w/o helix). He's strait up and al lot of Polaris guys go with him for his customer service and knowledge. He sells High Performance Design and other parts specifically made for Polaris's. It made a big differance in performance , I'm very happy!

I like your thinking........You will end up saving alot of money by just going all the way. If you start out small then don't ever ride someone elses fast ride or you will be ruined.
