Just imagine how it will run when you get your new top end done. If it did that at 90psi just imagine what it will do now. Are you going to shave the head for more compression? It really helped out on mine and the wifes. Just a thought.
I dont want to shave the head but I am going to port the cylinder. Bubba: will it hurt to port it before I get it bored? If not I will do that because it may be the end of the week befor they get it bored.

That's cool. It was just highly reccomended to me when I did mine cause it really helps when you have porting and you can still use 92 octane pump gas. When Bubba ported my wifes bike he asked me to have it bored after he ported it cause there's always the possibility of a slipped porting tool when grinding.

[i]Originally posted by:[b] ftwflh What is the scoop on theDynoport pipes why doesnt anyone ever talk about them?
my brothers 99 sport had a dynoport pipe on it when he bought the machine,i put a fmf pipe on my 02 scrambler 400 and also added a k&n filter..i dont know if his machine was clutched or not but mine wasnt and i would pull away from him during a race,i was probably 2-3 bike lengths ahead of him at the end of the race, not sure if the different pipes made me win or if his motor was just tired..

the dynoport pipe doesn't need clutch changes, stock setting will
work best,230 main jet is way too lean.

Brad, I would always port before boring if at all possible. Also if you can have the head shaved .020. You can put in a set of 10-56 or 58 gram weights with that pipe too. I forgot to tell you that earlier.

What about the jetting? It is a 230 main now and when I pulled the plug it was black and oilly.Figured that was from the bad compression.

I have to agree with scramblered, a 230 sounds too small. With colder weather rapidly approaching, I would step it up initially at least to a 260 and also make sure it has a bigger pilot in it like a 35. It also wouldnt hurt to lower the needle clip one notch too. Porting can slow the air flow and make the need for larger jets to compensate. Always better to go bigger then back down if need be.
