Scrambler 500 HO owners:

a couple things i found out, one, 500s have a 10.2 : 1 compression ratio which is actually more than sufficient to run premium fuel, dispite what your dealer may have told you. HOWEVER, one limiting factor on this is that it would require more // hotter spark for complete combustion, which became a problem around 2000 ish... polaris went to a less powerful spark plug at some point, (i think it was around 2000) and this can lead to easier fouling, especially when coupled with running premium fuel. so, when replacing a spark plug, it might be a good idea to ask for the plug number from like... a 98ish scrambler? maybe 97, i dunno, if anyone knows exactly what year this happened it'd be great to know thanks. i was just letting everyone know, because my X runs a lot nicer and is significantly snappier on premium fuel.

I tried running Premium in it, but didnt notice enough difference to justify paying that much more. Now I just run 89 in it. I also use the stock NGK V-power (or whatever its called) plug and have never had a problem with it fouling
