Default Exhaust help

I just bought a '97 Xpress 300 for my 16 yo daughter to ride. It needs some work, but I bought it cheap. The biggest thing it needs is an exhaust system. The previous owner didn't want to spend the money for a new pipe and silencer, so he welded up a jerry-rigged system that consists of 3" automotive pipe and a silencer he scrounged off of a Suzuki quad. It looks terrible and it is quite loud. I really just want a stock exhaust system, but I don't want to spend $300 to $400 for it if I don't have to. I found a pipe and silencer on Ebay. It said it is for a 400. As far as I can see, it looks the same as the picture of the pipe and silencer at partsland.com for the 300.

Can anyone tell me if most of the two stroke pipes on the utility machinces are the same? If not, can you help me find something that won't cost almost as much as I paid for this fourwheeler?

Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks.

David
