Called my dealer to find out once and for all if the 2001 Mag has the HO motor. He said no, only the sp500 has it. Does anyone have any info that's different? This dealer has a track record of being wrong before.

My dealer says he was told the mag 500 will be HO.
ChopperBill has a memo from Polaris stating that the Mag 500 will be HO.
I've been waiting and if they're not HO I'll be PO'd.

They better be by 2002. I hear they are dropping the 400 2 cycles alltogether by then (hope it is just a rumor, but you never know. I thought no snowmobiles in Yellowstone was just a nasty rumor, also). A Magnum HO might be the only thing comparable to the Xplorer. I guess if it came down to it, a person could go with the SP.

Hard to believe Polaris would bother running two different product lines and make the H.O and standard 499cc motors with a different cam and crank shaft. It seem like more of a pain for them than to just but the new H.O 499 in everything that run it such as the there 6 wheeler SP also.
