Its hard for me to picture a sportsmen 700 machine. Why would polaris want to un-seat its own
sp 500 with a sp700? The only reason I can think of, is they may figure that the sp 500 ho will be the lower cost machine and the sp700 the higher cost machine. When your stuck in the mud, whether,
your driving the 500 or the 700, you will still be
stuck. I thought the sp 500 was big enough and fast enough, So I'm sure the sp500 ho is powerfull
enough! I could see polaris making a 700 cc sports
riding atv. Polaris is behind in the sports atv/speed dept. the 700 would fill that void. If they are making a sp700, it could end up being a mistake.. When they came out with the new xpedition 425 cc 5 speed. polaris's first model 5 speed. what was there second 5 speed. The 325., there idea was a lower cost 5 speed. -rangerchet

I too wonder why? a 700cc utility machine? I too think the current 500 is awesome the HO wow should be even better but 700cc's man that is wild. I read on I think on dirtwheels.com though that there is a rumor of a true sport quad from Polaris? The HO SP already has no equal, a 700cc is almost overkill.

i dont think anyone will considerate it overkill when u drive a 50hp quad. remember "back in the day" when a 400 was huge and a 300 was big. i can remember when the honda 300 4X4 was considered a big machine, now look is just a small one. machines are always getting bigger and fancier.as the displacment gets bigger its better to go with multipul cylinders. i would rather have a 700 twin over a 700 single. a twin would be smother and have power every 360 rather than 720 degrees.

xepathfinder, about your price issue.........i have proven it many a time that FEW and FAR BETWEEN trucks can even try what atv's do. My little 300 has danced all over EVERY truck it has seen, and that includes a couple with 44" tsl tires, mostly 36s and 39s. it would take an extreme jeep to even consider riding against a 4wd atv, nevertheless a Sportsman. So for those of us out there that know atvs are superior to trucks in 4wheelin, YEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWW

i guess, i would have bought an HO if i had known.
and i will probably get the 700 if it shows up.
that way i could pull bigger tanks and booms and do more with my quad. i'm not maxed out yet as far as power goes, but i could maybe pull a 100 or 200 gallon tank with a 30' boom rather than my 50 gallon and 8' boom.
