Well, got out today and tested the Mudlites in the snow, would rather have the 589s in the snow, but the Mudlites did good....check it out here:
Snow 1
Snow 2
Snow 3
Snow 4
Snow got to only about 4 inches deep, but there were drifts over a foot. These pictures were taken from about 10000 - 10600 feet in elevation....and can we talk cold....I'm guessing the windchill was about zero degrees. It was 31 degrees when I left the truck about 10 miles back.
Shots with Canon 20D DSLR, 8.2 MP....didn't process the RAW files yet....these were just the jpegs in Auto....

Awesome Pics Dave. Sell them to Polaris and make some $$$.
Do you find that the windshield actually helps? I was thinking about one, but I wanted to find out from someone how well it works.
Also, how did the mudlites do? Were the 589's any better last year?
Thanks again Dave.

Jeff,
For how flimsy that windshield is, it sure works great. Its the quick release windshield, you can put it on in a minute and take it off in 15 seconds....I was going 60 mph down one of the stretches today, no problems with the windshield whatsoever....
Ya, should put a copyright on the pics so Polaris doesn't steel them...lol....
The thing I notice using the Mudlites vs the 589s in the snow is that the Mudlites have a tendancy to pull in ruts/deep snow. The 589s have the tread all the way to the side, full lugs and seem to do better in deep snow. The Mudlites had no problems going through the foot of snow that I was hitting in the drifts....and it wasn't just short drifts, some were probably 30-40 yards long, in the road.
I still had another 1000 feet to get to the top of the mountain, its at around 11600 feet, I can get up to about 11000 on the ATV, the last part is too steep to try with snow on the ground....if you get off the trail, you roll for over 1000 feet....wouldn't be good.
Get the windshield. I had on a helmet and with the windshield, my upper body was plenty warm and the wind was completely cut out. I have the mid height windshield, you can see over it and look through it for close objects....
