One more stupid electrical question... Is the cabling from the harbor freight winch to the battery included with the winch when you buy it? If not, what is the best alternative?

Yes, it is included. There are 4 wires that go to the controller, 2 from the battery and 2 to the winch. The switch in my pics imo is the best alternative. The controller just wasnt making it.

So let me ask this question for all you guys with $50-80 winches......will you suspend your quad going up a vertical wall with it? say even 75 to 80 degree slope? How about if your on it at 65-70 degrees?
I see this question all the time on jeep boards also. Why spend 5-7000 on your quad (20-30k on a jeep) and then go tightwad on recovery/safety gear. If you are looking for something to make your plow go up and down...great. If you are looking at something that might save a vehicle or perhaps lift a quad off someone (my 700 twin weighs over 700 lbs, I couldn't lift it without help)...terrible time for the thing to quit on you. I will always default to "you get what you pay for" and I won't skimp on winches and recovery straps. I am saving for either a ramsey or a warn for each of my quads.

Aside from plowing...I had to use it the other day to winch myself up a steep hill when i went down a dead end trail. There was no way back without it. It worked great. So in my opinion I couldn't have asked for anything better

Well lets see! I can hang my 4wheeler from a tree to wash it or do some maintenance 550lbs, I have pulled 2 700 Sp's out from deep mud at the same time1500lbs and also kept a ranger from rolling down a hill the the owners went and got help.. Yes I know it is cheap but it works just as well as the name brands. As for how long it lasts? Who knows. I have a friend that has had the same winch on his kawasaki for about a 1 1/2 years now and still works great. It is a simple design and not much to go wrong with it. Just dont over work it everytime you use it and it should last for years. It is the same winch that Superwinch sells. If it was not reliable then I doubt a major company like Superwinch would sell a piece of junk. Granted I would like a Warn or a Ramsey but 3-400 bucks! I have better things to spend my money on. I have not heard 1 complaint about this winch and I know alot of people that use them for either work or play.
