Default 2005 700EFI Problem???

it could be an electrical problem with your reverse limiter/ override button... if i dont use my button and gun it in reverse it will sputter and not go anwhere before it reaches its 7 mph... check into that it even says somewhere in your manual if u have some time to sit down and look at it

low gear is not meant to be rode hard. if you look in your owners manual they say you should only use low when pulling, plowing, pushing stuff and trying to get through tough steep places soforth. low gear is what is sounds like, low speeds with high torque. not meant to go full throttle. that is what your high gear is for.

This sounds normal to me. There is no way my 05' 700 efi will ride a wheelie. I was trying to ride wheelies in the driveway yesterday and the only way I could get the front end to come up is to nail it in low range with me standing on the back rack. Low range is supposed to be for under 7mph so you probably are hitting a rev limiter. The owners manual says that at 3mph in low range you should be at 3000 rpm. As far as your wifes 700 carb being faster than your efi that does sound like a problem.

I have tried the 53 gram weights in my 700EFI. The problem I had with them is I couldn't shift out of any gears. You couldn't go in to high or low range unless you turned of the quad, put it in gear and restarted it.
The quad always wanted to creep forward, you had to hold the brake on to keep it from moving at an idle.

Replaced the weights with the stock ones and everything was back to normal.

Well, I haven't read the owner's manual for my Xplorer since I don't have one, but I do know that the cvt will partly compensate for the low range. What I'm saying is if you gas it in low range to say 15-20mph and then back of the throttle a little, the clutches will upshift due to the relatively high engine rpm and relatively low load due to the gear reduction. Now you can get back in the gas gently and cruise around 20-30mph in low without overrevving and have the added benefit of extremely snappy throttle response and backshift. I don't see any way this can harm the quad, it just thinks it's going faster than it is. No different than cruising 50-60 in high. It indeed sounds like 425X is experiencing a limiter problem. If it's cutting out at 3000rpm, it's a problem. And the lower gearing makes it easier to motivate the machine and LESS likely to slip the belt.

i just thought of something remember our tach may not be reading correctly right away sence it is digital and a little slow and may not be reading what the engine is really turning, so you probablly are at the revv limiter when the tach doesnt quite show that yet.... just a thought

Im having the same problem with mine. I just bought mine on 11/13/04. I called them about it and they said it was normal, a saftey feature basicly, but i dont like it at all. If they can fix yours please let me know. Ive tried mine out in the mud and on some deep skidder ruts and it pulled unlike any 4wheeler ive ever seen. just ike to get that problem fixed with low range!!!!!

my '04 700EFI would wheelie in low, not in high, but I never hit any rev limiter. I would just mash the throttle and it would come right up. maybe they changed something on the '05 model. Dynatek makes CDI boxes for my BF750 that removes the rev limiter in reverse and raises it in forward gears, maybe they make one for the Polaris.

Ok, let me get this straight....you pin the throttle in low range then think there is something wrong because you hit the rev limiter (RL) to quickly?
If you are spinning the tires you can easily hit the RV. If your belt is slipping (highly unlikely) you can hit it easily also. Other than that you just have a quad that rev's easily.
Am I missing something here? Would you perfer the quad not rev up high?

The tires are not spining.. And yes I would perfer that the bike not rev up and hit the rev limiter, if it is because the belts slipping thats a problem to.
