Default How do I get the connecting link on?

How do I get the connecting link onto the chain? I have the one with the studs in the chain, but I can't get the other face on the other side. IS there a special tool needed?

Yuck after a hour of using pliers and crap, I finally got it on. My dad being the stupid one that he is, tryed to adjust the rear shock and snapped the adjuster off. Now there is almost no tension on the rear spring. Does anyone know if they sell just spring adjuster?
