I put this slide show together with some pic's on winching.I know most of you know more about it than I do,but thought may help some new guy.You may add some thing or learn something.Either way give me some feed back. One thing I forgot to mention always leave at least 5 wraps on the drum or you'll chance pulling cable loose from drum, and you ain't going to be happy!!!!CM

Good tips! Always looking for more info, and really looking forward to seeing the rest of the video from the weekend at Quartz Creek
Hey! is that a Grizzly 600 on the other end of your winch cable? I won't go there. We know this was a *demo*.
The chain looks like a nice setup, but I believe a strap or some kind of tree-protector is prefered when when anchoring to a tree.
You might want to address anchoring methods when you aren't near a tree or a rock. I've read about planting the cable about 3 inces deep in a big circle, but don't remember the details.
Also, be sure to keep the cable winding evenly to avoid kinks, and always rewind it if necessary when you are finished. Kinks are death to the cable .. and dangerous to the user! I've found it best to keep two cables; one to operate the snowplow, and another one just for winching. The one used for the snowplow gets pretty knarly and frayed from running in and out a few feet without guidance.
