Default 400 vs 500 4X4

I had a chance to compare my 04 400 to my buddies 05 500ho. We dragged a couple times up a hill. He pretty much killed me every time. It was in low and he took off much quicker and went about 8-10 atv lenths ahead of me until we both RPM'd out being we were in low. I also noticed the 500 is snappier taking off where my 400 is pretty much smooth. The 400 is great but the 500 is surprisingly more powerful given the little difference in CC's - 425 cc vs 499cc.

I would have to disagree, the 2-strokes have less moving parts. Sure you will have to rering the 400 every couple of years....but it's cheap. And you can get more hp, with very little money. Now since I got my Pred. it takes alot of money to gain more hp. The 500 will have more low end tourqe....as long as you keep wheel speed on the 400 you will be able to climb anything you want.

I know you have your mind made up....thats cool, they both are great quads.

weve never had any trouble with a polaris 4 stroke motor at all (4wd system is a diff story). weve put 3000 miles on one, never used any oil, ran perfect till the day we sold it to my friend, and the motor is still great. the trailblazers ive rode with have been rebuilt before with less mileage than any of our 4 strokes. if you kill a newer 4 stroke motor, you did something wrong.
