Bubba you know Dana's 250r doesnt count.LOL I have seen Polaris' embaris every make quad you can think of.All it takes is the right combination and some $$$$,I have seen some bad other brands embaris Polaris.Its all in what you put into it. But the 400 Polaris is a very detuned machine in stock form.It can be opened up into an animal.But so can any other quad.The thing is is that most people see a Polaris as this huge slow ground crawler.That some of them are but the Scramblers and Sports with the 400 two stroke can be made as fast as your pocket can take you.II will embaris you if you talk smack and jump on the wrong one LOL Its all in good fun .Good to see ya in here Bubba.

Well I just came back from the dunes on Thanksgiving. Played with the clutching one more time and I think I got it all figured out now. I am so impressed with it. I thought the 7mm was impressive but this 12mm just blows my mind. I havent really raced anyone that is stock so I cant do any comparisons. I raced a piped predator up comp hill and I got beat by 2 quad lengths. I killed him through the whoops and bottom end but he catches me at the top. I am going again New Years and I will be racing my buddys stock yfz 450. This bike runs that good... I think I will give him problems......WORTH EVERY PENNY I SPENT. Stock banshees are no problem.

Because I already have a 400 that is unbelivable and is probably the fastest Polaris 400 dune machine on gas. On top of that my boy is putting his 7mm stroker together.
I rode Dennis's 7mm 250 at the dunes one time and I tought that was the prime dune machine I ever rode. I so much fun on that a had to have one. Then Dennis said we could do a 12 mm 250, so my other son rides the 7 and now I have the 12 to ride in he dunes. I'm thinking of swithching to alky on my 400 and make it a hill bike

The fellas on here know me, and I dont usually talk smak. But I kinda get pizzed when someone says "QUADZILLA!" and everyone is supposed to run and hide. There are a handfull of Polaris 400s on here that will eat a stock- or fairly modded zillaz for lunch.

I normally don;t post on these types of threads but here it gos.
don;t think you will take every 400 scrammy, also scrammy guys don't think you will take every 400ex.
the dealer I bought my quad from had the scrammy in my signature and a very nice 400ex for 300 dollars more. since I knew this before I drove to the dealer I did my research, the scrambler will make more power on mods then the 400ex. the ex is a more playful bike (weight) especially when your a smaller guy like me.
in the woods I would have to give it to a 400ex for that reason. On a drag I would go polaris unless its a long race. the automatic you speak of especially being a belt drive provides extremely linear acceleration, it alos lets the engine stay in peak power almost the entire time with proper clutching.
I have taken more then one 400ex and even a new 450r were I ride, no of them seemed to be experienced riders. the guy with the 450r I havn;t seen since and he had not even had the quad a week when I raced him drag. My point is with the list of quads you have you have to be experienced, also it takes a ride or too to get used to a polaris. atleast it did for me.
Also having a braket racer back ground for cars consistency is key, with the minor mods to my cltuch(higher engagement) there is only one or two quads that can take my scrammy out of the hole. plus there are so many more variedbles to traction and getting a good launch on dirt. The launch is the most critical part it sets your momentum and can pretty much determine your 1/4mile time on an automatic(because of consistency). This is another reason so many professional drag racers use autos.
