I have come across a set of 2x4's at a great price. They are 97's 350's and hardly used.
When I had a Polaris 350 2cycle years ago, I seldom used 4wheel drive. It seeemed to go every where with out it. Ocasionally I would use it to help out sticky situations, but really.....is it that necessary?
The 2x4's should get plenty of performance with out the additional 4 wheel drive configuration,.....shoudn't they?
Will I be sorry if I don't get a 4x4 with all the bells and whistles? I do like to zip around..
Thank you for your considerate replies.

Ok the 2x4 machines are great if you dont plan on deep mud or pulling real hevey loads. They are great just to ride and do light work with. Now you stated that they were 1997 350s the last year for the 350 was 93 but if they are in good condition year doesnt matter.350s are just about as powerful as the 400 which took its place in 94. Good luck and hope you like the 350s.

Thanks pard,
They must indeed be 400's I was unsure and put in 350 because they were at least that. I will look at them today.
This has been an interesting search.
I kicked the tires at several dealers and they want 2-300 less for used machines. Unbelievable!
I ran a wanted add in the local paper and there are all kinds of scooters that people want buyers for. They are all high and some don't know what they have, respective to what they want for them, but it is a great buyers wake up call for me. I can afford a new machine, but I don't think it is realistic for me to pay 7-8K for a machine I will ride 2+ years and want to then find a buyer for. I'll be dealing with an sob like my self.
Thanks for the help.

If youre mostly just riding trails, and do light chores, theres nothing wrong with 2wd. Its amazing how much stuff a 2wd can go thru.
Dont over pay for what youre getting. Right now, is a buyers market, and theres no need to pay asking price. Get a feel for what others have paid, and what blue book value is.

i ride both i like the 2 wheeler for having fun with and it goes almost anywhere my 500 will go and it is alot faster mine has the low range to so i can go slow if i need to. 500 gets ridden in the snow and when i need to putt around cutting trails

Hello bisonbutt. I have to agree with these guys. They are quite knowledgeable. When I bought my quads this year, I was going to buy two Sportsman 400s. However, as I read more and more on this forum, I became convinced that I would not need 4wd for the type of riding I expected to do. We have been quite surprised where our quads have taken us. We have now been on 6 trail systems in MIchigan and we have yet to get in a situation where we needed 4wd. I think it because the trail systems are made for bikes, 2x4s and 4x4s. This means the trails cannot be too agressive. I suspect I will never have a 4x4. But I guess we never can tell.
I hope this helps.

Proud owner of 93 350 2x4, it was our 2nd quad, 1st one was Kawasaki 180, then the polaris 350 then a 95 magnum 425 4x4, sold kaw, kept the polaris's, both still running great, only concern about the 350 2x4 was ,,,,,too fast, but it has gone most everywhere the 4x4 has gone, didn't take up to michigan where inlaws own 90 acres of hills etc, deep ravines, lots of trails & hills, always afraid ( had kids ) that front end would come up, its fast and the front wheels come up easily...
