low end vs mid range
#1
I'm still new at this, but I'm learning. I have a question, I have a 99 Sport (no mods). I ride with two groups, one is a near by club, all utility and most 4x4, we travel slow and through mud and rocks(only been stuck once). Secound is young riders that live near me, all sport quads, we run the trails 30-45 mph. The question is how to mod with the best of both worlds? I have a chance to buy an EPI low end clutch kit. The owner says its great for low speed and mudding, but with the lower engagment, I couldn't get a pipe later, right? I'm on an extream budget, (in hind sight I wish I would have gotten the Scrambler). So ANY help would be great. And please don't just say "get an RCR kit" or something to that effect, I need to know why, I don't know enough to no why with out you telling me. I want to be able to accelerate as fast as possible, (to speed isn't that important to me) and still be able to ride slow and steady in mud and over rocks. How much will the low end clutch help with my acceleration to say 50mph? Thanks

I thought I posted a reply earlier to this but maybe it was a different post. The setup I have seems to work well for what you want to do. The milled head along with the reeds and spacer will give you more power and better throttle response. You will be able to go slow as well as hang with whoever on the fast stuff. You will accelerate faster but top speed will still be about the same. Most trails people go on you can't go 45mph or faster on anyway. The pipe will kill the bottom end power. It will rip in the mid-range and on top-end. I got rid of my HotSeat pipe because I wanted more low-end power not top-end speed. I don't know about the clutch kit though. Mine was setup good from the dealer.
