Sportsman 700 Owners!!! I need your input...

Howdy Folks....
Thanks for stopping by...
I'm in the process of gathering information for an upcoming project, and need your input. As an owner of a SP700, you already know about all the power available with this Polaris power plant. The carb version has tons of torque, the EFI is even better. BUT.... Is it enough power? Too much? Or are you like me and you can never have enough?
WHAT IF, you wanted to change that, what would you do? Stay with simple bolt on products? Or be willing to "dive in" and release all of the un-tapped, un-used horsepower already built in to these motors? I'm talking about a complete motor & drive train rebuild... And end up with a real fire breathing, monster that is as reliable as a timex watch... You may ask about warranty... What's that? After 6 months it's a done deal anyway. Maybe buy an 800? Sure, I've got an extra 8 grand just sitting around!! Yea right!!
The marketplace isn't exactly flooded with hop-up parts for the 700 motors. And from what I've seen of the one or two "power up" kits available...... well, frankly I'm not impressed.
So I ask you.... If you wanted more power... How far are you REALLY willing to go?
Thanks for your time....

I have an 04.5 efi completely stock and it has all the power I would ever want for my kind of riding. I have 2200 trouble free miles on it now and have had the fuel line/throttle cable fix done. My next bike will probably be the 800 only because its there!!!

i have an 800, id love to get the engine reworked with new pistons and everything and bore and stroke crap to knock it past 800 actual CC's. but i dont have the money to and stuff. so the furthest i COULD go would to get the new Dyno-Jet powercommander EFI.

No matter how much horsepower you gain, you will never be satisfied ....with that said, financially, if I were you, I would spend a few dollars on the bolt-ons and enjoy until the NEXT BIG THING (other than the 800) comes out....just my 2cents!!

I though about putting a cam in mine to boost power. I just got done putting a 40mm carb on mine and all I can say is hold on. This really woke the beast up

if you change the EFI version, you will need to compensate in the computer, which wouldn't be an easy task, unless someone like Dynojet and their Power Commander could make a load that will adjust for the mods....it would be easier to mod the carb'd version....

I had a AAEN exhaust on mine and it was to loud took it off and cut the back out of my stock muffler for more flow . It's only a little louder that stock I hunt so I didn't want anything loud look at my pics. I also took a drimel tool and matched the plastic where the snorkle bolts on the air box lid for more flow. Mine is still running lean so I'm going to the dealer tomorrow and getting some bigger jets.
