Hey Outrage
What part of Alaska you from?

You a member of any ATV clubs up here?

I am up in Eagle River. Born and raised.

I ride Knik quite a bit. A few other places down by Kenai.

At the dealership...you are kidding right? Riding up and down the parking lot is not a test ride IMO.

Jaykers,

I live on Elmendorf AFB and ride both with guys from work and the people from the ATV club here. We do most of our riding in the Palmer/Wasilla area to include Eureka. I've never done the Kenai but is there some nice trails there? Also, how long does it take to get to them?

Have you checked out our local website yet? www.Arctictrails.net We have PICs of all the trials as well as post our trips we plan to take.

Ya,
I checked out Artic Trails

I am thinking about joining that club. It looks pretty cool.

I have been to Jim Creek and thats a nice ride.

How do you like your Suzuki Vinson 500 ? Does it have good power?

It has all the power that you will ever need. It's a great machine and won every shootout in its class. With that said I feel a 400cc machine is more than most will ever need. One of my best friends have an old 300 Praire and he can go anywhere the rest of us do. Now he may have to work it a little harder but he gets there nonetheless.

If you want a SRA machine I would get a Vinson the TP or Praire has more power but don't have the ground clearance or the extra light & looks of the Vinson. If you want an IRS machine then you'll have to look at something else.

Alaska is one BIG fun to ride trail .Ive been there a few time's up on the yukon river....No place for anything but a sportsman thats for sure....kidding...Trust me it sucks to mess up someone eles quad a few years back a friend and I were out riding in the snow on a very cold day well Ive got on some of the biggest gloves in the world on and went to back up and got my glove stuck between the grip and throttle and i slamed right into the front of his new 660 griz.If you want to know why them 660 "s are so light just hit it with the back of a sp700 you would have thought it was made of paper.Man I felt bad .The front grill was in bad shape. But as luck would have it he worked with a good body man that had it looking like new in no time....So im sure your brother-inlaw is feeling pretty bad about it....The only thing you need to know about rolling a sportsman is get the hell out of the way.....

Yes the Sportsmans may be some of the heaviest machines out there but trust me when I say my little 600 pound Vinson is way to much for me to be pushing it off my chest. LOL
