Unbiased polaris 800 power?
Hey Polaris boys, now i am thinking about trading my 650 cat for a 800 polaris. Ive got a clutch kit and an ignition module in mine. Is the 800 going to be noticably more powerful than my cat? Even if its not, the efi would be a god send for an ice fisherman like myself. The cat has lots of power, when it starts... Not happy with the quality of the machine at all. Just wondering what the power is actually like on these 800s. Whats the top speed you guys are getting out of them, and how about the wheelies, and what mods are out for it now? Thanks for the help!

there is going to be a large power difference between the two. no matter were you sit on the 800, stab the throttle and the front is up in the air like a sport quad. it is truely unreal. top speed is in high 60's low 70's depending on were you are geographicly. EFI is an awesome thing, no more having to deal with that choke . and currently the only mods out for the 800's are a K&N air filter. i spoke with Rick Ritter last night (who owns RCR) and there isnt currently any mods out for the 800's. Dyno-Jet is coming out with a Power Commander EFI for the 800's. the EFI moduals on the 800 and 700 are extremely detuned. so, dynojet is still dyno-ing and it should be out soon. its suposed to knock the horse power into the 70's. but thats just a rumor

as said above, there is no comparison between the cat and the 800 EFI...my 700 EFI is amazing to me until I rode the 800, large difference....which you wouldn't think for the displacement differenece.
as said above also....Dynojet is working on the Power Commander for the 700 and 800 EFI, 2005 models, I spoke with dynojet and they are still working out some issues on the dyno....the '04 700 EFI according to one of our forum members didn't see much of a difference with the Power Commander hooked up, but supposedly this will change on the '05's....there are alot of things different on the '05 model machines, even engine components.....I'm waiting for them to come out with it....
The speed on the 800 should be low 70's....I've had my 700 EFI up to 68 mph on the GPS, but I was going slightly downhill, my flat runs put it at 64 mph and I was running almost 6000 feet altitude....that was with my stock tires, I've lost some speed now with the 27" tires

Unbiased polaris 800 power?
Well, i sold the cat 650 and just got my new 800 efi polaris. Since its nothing but ice and snow around here, i can't really get any traction to see the wheelie ability, but i know it has much more snort than the 700. I like everything about it, especially the efi. The only bad parts, is the lack of ground clearance as compaired to the cat, and the chincy running boards, i already broke the lip off of one of them, after 11 miles. Other than that, the power is good, the efi is better. Still waiting to get her broke in, and find some tar somewhere....

What part of the hype are you talking about? I own an 800......And yes it has a big engine, it's fast, it has the most storage, great lights, great tires, great rims, will do a wheelie with the push of the thumb if you like that stuff, 1500lbs. of towing power, and I didn't buy this Utility quad to race with but most people want to............I haven't lost yet & the best compotition yet (not much) was a SP700. It's like wanting to race tractors???? Oh yeah, I don't like the gas mil.........Nor do the owners of a Hummer. Any?

i dont go by factory rated towing capacities or a stupid storage rack thats designed to hold flat objects. the foreman 450es was rated to tow 850 pounds, i towed around trucks and cars with it. yes the 800 is powerful, but at that price i can buy a king quad and put 1500 in the bank
