quebert00, i also found that the tire chains from spinning would leave scratches in the black-top. a real negative if you have a nice driveway.

Yeah, my driveway is completely scratched up. But it needs repaving soon anyway. Back to the original question, though, I usually jack up the back tires when i put them on, so i can move the chain around on the tire until they are perfectly centered and really tight.
