I like engine braking on all 4 wheels when crawling down steep, muddy, rocky or snow covered hills. Try going down some steep rocky hills on your Polaris Ohhhhh! I can feel the rear wheels sliding around to the front now!

The hills you are going down are not steep enough or long enough. Try the black trails at Hatfield McCoy.

If you had been reading..... I am talking about going DOWN hills. The Polaris's are great at going up hills not at going DOWN. THe 4WD system that is so good for going up is a handicap for going down. UNDERSTAND???

You can get 4 wheel EBS on a Polaris. If you are going to go down a very steep hill and think you need all 4 wheels to have EBS it can be done. Before you decend, put it in 4x4, then go in reverse and push the override to lock the front. As you go in reverse put on the brakes and hold the lever. Then put it in low and start moving while letting off the brake. You should have 4 wheel EBS all the way down.

I've been riding automatic quads since the mid 80's. They never had engine braking back then and IMHO it's just something that the manufactures started hyping as another feature.

I've never had a need for it and I don't think it's some sort VITAL thing at all (like some people would have you believe). As a matter of fact when I've driven auto tranny machines with it I didn't like it.........but I'm sure I would get used to it if I had it all the time.

The way I read Mr. Wolverineman's comments is that he is an anti-Polaris person with brand bias blindness issues and will not ever see anything relative to Polaris with an open mind....... ever.

I have seen this sort of anti-Polaris brand disrespect from the Jap bike loyalists for two decades. It's a whole lot less now because Polaris has absolutely blazed the trail for the utility quads as we know it today. I remember back in the 80's how all the Jap bike loyalists would turn their noses up a the Polaris.......the auto tranny, the floor boards, the McPhearson struts etc, etc..........

Well guess what..........the Jap manufacturers have been COPYING the Polaris features because those features have been proven to be standard setters.

Your Grizzly has an auto tranny, full floor boards and IRS because it COPIED them from the Polaris standard setting design of the Sportsman.

The Polaris AWD system is AWESOME. It kicks in instantaniously and seemlessly when it's needed. It is a true 4 wheels driven design and it's been proven out over many years to be excellent. Most of the Jap designs........until recent years.........have only been THREE wheel driven designs.........and only recently have they been offering locker fronts ..........and only on the very top-of-the-line machines. In these Jap bike designs you have stop to engage and/or pull a separate lever and because it's a mechanical locker you have to disengage it for everything but slow/straight stuff. With the Polaris design you can go blazing around at any speed with the AWD system engaged and get seemless intergration at all times. Honda STILL doesn't have a true 4 wheel driven front end.

The Grizzly's are great machines too..........but give me break with the brand bias blindness/pro Jap/anti-Polaris BS I've been seeing for 20 years.

Bob
