Default sportsman 500 clutch shaking

My 1998 sportsman has a problem I can't figure out by looking in the service manual. At low RPM when the chutch is starting to engage & pull the belt, the clutch & shaft shakes & causes the belt to slap big time. It smooths out once the clutch is engaged & pulls fine. Could this be caused by the shaft bearing being bad? I have installed new buttons in the rear driven pulley & have proper belt deflection.

My local dealer has an idiot in the service dept. & is no help at all. I don't trust them & don't want to drive 100 miles to the next nearest dealer. Someone please help me.

Thanks,
deepassmud

Could be your motor mount or the primary cluch bushings could be sticking.

All motor mounts are ok. Where are the primary clutch bushings located, how do I check them & do I need any special tools?

Thanks

The bushings are on the inside of the primary clutch and you need speical tools to get it apart.Best way to check it is to take the clutch cover off and rev the motor up and see if it is releasing all the way.

Yea, I done that. As far as I can tell it is releasing live it should. Like I said in the begining, the shaft seems to be shaking like a bearing is going bad.
