Default Installing the high comp piston

Ok guys........time to install the new High compression piston. I decided to go with a wiseco 12.5:1 piston(was going to go with a JE 11:1 or 11.5:1, but a friend somehow came across this piston and gave it to me for "a case of beer", instead I gave him $15......).....I figured I was making out like a bandit on a new piston......

Ok, so to start off with, I don't know much about the pred motor......but I'd like this to be a learning experience(in a good way)......so I'd like to give this a try myself. I have worked on 4 strokes before, just haven't been into the pred. Anyways, can someone give me a step by step(or not that specific) way of what I'm to do........

I also want to know what the trick is for installing those little "c-clips" that retain the piston on the rod......I don't want them shooting out clear across the shop.........

What clearances to I need to check when putting it back in?? How do you adjust those clearances?? I also would like to know the torque specs of the head,etc.......

Do you guys think I need a high compression base gasket??

Any other tricks or tips??

If there is a manual that covers this stuff, I'd like to have a look at it.........if it is online. My crappy little manual that comes with the pred doesn't show anything!!!

Also, what do you think I'll need for fuel?? The same buddy that gave me the piston runs a race car shop, and he has lots of race gas(I think 110).....It is the kind that nascar uses(don't remember the name, they just changed it)........but can I mix that stuff with 92 octane(what they have at the pumps)??

Thanks,
Brad

I think I'd give Rick Ritter a call before you venter inside your motor. I'm not sure if what he told me about the scrambler motors is also true on the preditors, but if so you may be sorry.

The Polaris motors hace a design flaw , in that the ports in the head are way too big. This causes the need to turn the motor near 10,000rpms to get lots of hourse power. However the engines turn into grenades at that point & can blow any time. This is with the scrambler 500 motors . Call Rick before you make your move.

hmmm.......I don't think that is the same with the pred Don, but thanks........The pred is a different engine than the scrammy........

Omahapred........lol.......sorry man. I'm just getting things ready, so when I need to do it(want to) I can........I'd like to have something to print off to go by, like some tips.........hey do you have that online manual?? If so, does it help??

Next question.......Do you think my rod(stock) will hold up under the pressure made by this compression?? I might be running some harescrambles(2 hrs or racing), mx racing, and some sand duning/drags..............
