Oil Capacity for 2004 Sportsman 400
Just changed my oil for the first time. I find it bit irritating that in the oil change instructions they don't simply tell you what the system capacity is. All they say is to put in 2 quarts, go through the purge proceedure, shut off engine, check the dip stick and adjust oil level from there.
Well I think that is all fine and dandy and that is just what I did.........but why don't they just tell you the system capacity??? Do they think I'm going to only half drain the system and then put too much oil back in???
In any event......after the complete oil and filter change, including draining the small amount in the bottom of the engine, I ended up putting in approximately 2.25 quarts (they give you 3 quarts in the kit). Best as I can tell from a dip stick which is sometimes difficult to read is that I'm right on the full mark.
Can anybody else with a Sportsman 400/500 confirm the correct oil amount for me???
Thanks
Bob
