polaris Two-Rider capabilities
#1
Hello to all fellow ATV users worldwide,
I have been a loyal user of Polaris ATVs since 1995 and since I have always strived to maintain cutting edge abilities regarding my ATV, I religiously upgraded my vehicle on a biennial basis.
For about a year I have been the proud owner of a 2004 Sportsman 700 Twin and it is now that time of year in which I research possible upgrade avenues that would lead to a final decision regarding the vehicle I would be purchasing, come 2006.
Due to a recent crucial change in my personal preferences, a determinative factor in my decision regarding the next ATV to be purchased would be whether it is equipped with Two-Rider capabilities.
My research revealed that Bombardier Recreational Products, as well as Arctic Cat, both manufacture such dedicated vehicles, to wit, Bombardier calls it "Outlander MAX 400 H.O. 4x4", while Arctic Cat names it "500 4x4 Automatic TRV".
In order to make an informed decision, I would have to know whether Polaris intends to come out with a Two-Rider/Multi-Rider version of its own. Though I would hate to interrupt my continuous loyalty to Polaris products, lack of such model would unfortunately determine the fate of my next buying decision. Has any of you heard anything through the grapevine? Your insights and guidance would be greatly appreciated!
TIA

i know a guy that has 01 sp500 and had a 02 sp700 and just traded it for the Outlander MAX 400 H.O. 4x4 and seems to like it other than it being under powered abit he would of got a cat but the dealer would only let him test in the parking lot and not do a demo so told them what to do with it he to is hoping to go back to polaris as he says the ride is much better

Although I haven't heard anything yet, in my opinion their coming, as they are even producing an ATV that is street legal for the European market and with Polaris no longer manufacturing Seadoos, they can't be far away.
I do not find the Arctic Cat delivers a very smooth ride and have not as yet tried the Bombardier, however I hear they produce a high quality ATV.
Hope this helps,
Mike

I just read in a Canadian ATV magazine that Polaris is working on a two-up ATV to compete with the Outlander but they said no word on when it will reach production. I'd guess it will come out soon as since they just updated the Sportsman and Predator they need to release some other model next.

Yes, Polaris has come out with a 2 up machine. It is the 2006 500 EFI X2. It is a great machine, has a convertible 2 up seat with a convertible dump box. They are having some problems with the 2 up mechanism, but promises are they will be fixed soon. My wife and I have just purchased one, and other than the problems with the minor glitches with the 2 up mechanism, we love ours. It rides great with 2 people on and has a 6 gallon tank, which helps on the trail. Give it a month or two and the glitches will be bugged out, and you will have the best two up machine you could buy! Happy Trails to You!

I have just purchased the X2 and have been very happy with it. The problem with the two seat position is the rattle the release handle makes. I put a piece of rubber into the bottom of the release and no no noise at all. I cannot tell you how much I like this machine. I am 56 yrs old and I am having a ball going out to the desert with it. I also have a small ranch and use the X2 for work related things.

I have had a passenger seat on all my quads as well as one on the trike I used to own. When someone wants to go with me they just climb up back and hold on...no problems so far. And its not like I drive any differently when two up as oppossed to riding single. Only thing that I've found with the Sportsman is a little more body roll at higher speeds on hard pack surfaces. I ride two up regularly with either my wife, daughter, moose hunting buddies & fishing buddies...when I go fishing I am also towing a 12' aluminum boat loaded with motor & gear on a proper boat trailer.
