Default cylinder damage

Hi Guys,
I recently picked up a 87 suzuki lt4wd with engine problems. I took the engine out and discovered that it needs a new piston, rings, connecting rod, main bearing, and cylinder. The biggest part is the cylinder. Can this be re sleaved? The bottom of the sleeve broke and went into the engine.

I know you guys on the polaris site are better than the suzuki guys as far as help goes.

Thanks,
Bob

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

You would be better off to part it out than to try to fix it.I ran into this type of thing a few yrs back and ended up with a ton $$$$ in a machine worth about a 3rd of what I had in it.

I would fine a good machine shop and take it over to them, make sure you take the new piston. I had this with an old 86 honda 100XR i got for free, the machine shop made me a custom sleve and new spark plug hole in the head for around $150.00.

well if i rebuild it using new parts including a $150 cylider, it would still only cost me about $300 for everything give or take. I bought this for $250. So for $550 i would have a 4x4 that my wife can use. I think its worth it because for $550 or even $600 i cant find a 4x4 quad for that much.

I can also get a sleeve for this. Would it be better to have the machine shop do it? Or should i just get new?

Thanks,

If it's a good shop it will last as long as new ... if you can readly get a new sleve then i would go that route. i also think you got a good deal ... sounds like a little TLC your have a nice quad for the wife.

Thanks for the input Chris. Im going to look into getting another engine for it too. The parts alone are going to be about $300 and i didnt even take the case apart yet so i know i have to replace atleast one bearing. I am going to fix it i just dont know the route im going to take.

I posted some pics of it.

Thanks again.
Bob
