The stock carb is a rouldslide carb. The needle jet works off of vaccum. On a flatslide card the needle jet works off the throttle directly

The fact that is is a CV carb means it runs off engine vacuum. The 700's have a CV carb as well but those have a flat slide. If what Sportsman70003 says is true, the slide being round on one side and flat on the other than the U.F.O. probably won't work. The UFO worked on the Scrambler 400 because its a VM carb and the UFO is designed to work with those.
The diagram that I have shows the slide to be completely round with a flat partition attached to the back, hopefully the 2004.5 carb is different than the 2001 carb that Sportsman70003 has.

Does anyone else have any feedback regarding this problem?

Well there is alot of diff answers . I guess the only way to find out for sure is to hear from Brambles.
So keep us posted if it worked or not .
I seem to think when I had my carb apart it was a round slide but that was along time and many beers ago so I could be wrong. I know behind the slide there was a vacum slide that was flat I think.
I,m gonna have to take it apart I feel the urge to tweak

The 2001 to 2005 HO carbs are the same . If you look Here you can see Stickhaulers slide on his 99 Sport is completely round its # 6.

Yeh I noticed that. It really suck when you buy a part in good faith and it turns out to be BullS&*T. Lonn @ thunderproducts says he has had them on sportsmans before but from what I can tell he was mistaken. I am not gonna bitch too much because Lonn seems like a nice guy and is very helpful.I will still check it out when it arrives but its not looking good. The strange thing is if you look at the diagram of the 500 HO carb the slide does look round but with a flat divider that looks to be attached behind it. I have also seen diagrams of other carbs that are how Sportsman70003 described as half round and half flat.

I wonder how hard it is to adapt the throttle and choke linkages to other carbs. What about taking a 4 stroke KTM 40mm carb and putting it on a ATV. That would haul ***, KTM's rock

Any ideas?

The flat wing like things you see attached to the slide is what guides the slide up and down. I think AAEN has some bigger carbs thats were I was looking but decided to go with the HO carb instead. I don't know how hard it would be to adapt the cables from the KTM because you have the ETC but I'm sure it could be done.

Sportsman70003
Other than the wings on the slide, Is the slide completely round on the bottom?

That is the million dollar question ( no I'm not gonna give you a million dollars)

Nope its completly flat on one side all the way down. You can look at yours and see the flat side toward the airbox side. Take the 2 bolts out of you airbox lossen the clamp and hose and remove the airbox & look in the back of the carb and you can see it's got a flat side.
