RAJ- yeah, the point of starting a topic is for feedback. everyone gets to decide for themselves what feedback they want to take into consideration and what feedback to disregard. we all have our opinions... some just state them more bluntly

ive come to the conclusion that most ppl dont like polaris cuz of their "user friendly features." (EX: one lever braking, automatic trannys, weight etc etc..................) all which are features that are perfect for people who own polaris atvs but are restricting to those of us who prefer more sport-like atvs with manual transmissions, chains, less weight etc. most ppl tho own polaris atvs or and brand atv for that matter are fairly satisfied with their atv, right? after all thats why we research atvs we want to buy beforehand. makes sense...

dontgetbehindme- i do find it cool that your atv can pull your boat and handle it well. thats great. im not a utility guy, more of a sport atv type. so towing boats isnt what drives me to love riding...[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] i dont know about how other utility atvs compare in categories like towing and stopping but i dont think all utilities are made to do exactly that. some are made for other things thats why there are so many. towing is a nice ability tho. from what ive seem i would have to say that i think polaris makes the "best" overall utility atv. just fonm what ive noticed. weight isnt an advantage with sport quads but more of an advantage for utilities because of what they are made for, duh. lol! they wouldnt make a raptor 900lbs so that if it hit something it would still be ok... it just make sense that way. anyways im done with this topic for good.... i hope[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

I have had sport quads and loved them, but utility quad I can do stuff around the house (I forgot to say that its great for logging, I can pull a dead tree up to 18" round out by the roots) but go straight into the woods and ride all day in rough conditions and run with the boys. Its not a super machine but sometimes it feels like it can pull the earth.lol

 

I guess the non-Polaris forums must get boring,so come here to bash use?? Im glad I spend most of my time in Ktmtalk. At least it stays mature,this thread sounds like a bunch of high schoolers. I dont know much about the Predator, but I do think the japs have had the sport market aced. As for as the point of this thread and reliability, several of my friends and myself have loved our Polaris`s for many years with great reliability, and have run the hell out of them. I guess if nothing else, this thread got a rise out of me,and got the juices flowin,,,now I wanna go ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Have yall ever noticed that when a jap qaud get a scratch on the frame it turn to rust real fast. The metal is not as good on the imports. Thats not to say i wouldnt have one, there good quads.

 

Being a Harley owner I am used to getting bashed by the importers. HD got a bad rep during the 70's when AMF was putting out some poor quality machines. MY latest scooter is a 2002 FLHT and I have put 30,000 trouble free miles on it. Oh by the way it is real heavy and slow .. and will only do about 105 mph but 80 is about as fast as I want to go.

Oh ATV's... Being a newbie I went to all of the dealers and test drove all of the 500 class utilities. I liked the Polaris the best so thats what I bought. At the time , I never knew everyone hated Polaris atv's. I guess I will just have to be hated. I Love my Polaris.

 

Im not gonna down polaris, their just not for me, but some polaris guys (not sayin all) down other quads and im gonna say this, U cant beat a Honda, i meen look what i am riding now but i am still faithful to honda, I have owned 2 400EX's since they come out and my first one had the roughest life you could give it, i have always rode honda and rode them hard, every honda i have sold and kept track of have been ran just as hard or harder after i sell them and the ppl never have to do anything to them and still all runnin strong.

 

I will say this, you will not see many guys off this Polaris forum, downing other peoples quads. I will agree on the Honda, there are pretty tuff quads, but so is Polaris. I mean look at that Pred you ride with...that thing as been through he!! and back, and it still runs good. I'm I right or wrong? I don't think you will find a guy that can put a Pred through any more he!! then Wes can. So thats 2 guys we both know that has Preds, and they both have been through alot.

 

The Japanese manufactures have a self imposed 600 lb weight limit on their quads so they come with cheap lightweight aluminum wheels and tires that are the first thing most owners would want to replace. When you spend that kind of money on a quad it should come with competent equipment. Not to mention other lighter weight parts.

The saying was in years past Polaris sold more auto quads than all others combined, this may not be the case anymore as most manufactures now have followed Polaris's lead by building auto trannys. And IMO is the reason why most old school dirt bikers and quad riders didnt like Polaris in the first place (auto trans being differant) and said they are for the girls etc...

 

RAJ I have to agree, Waynes predator has been trough it and it still keeps ticking, we all run the f*** outa that thing and that was the first 4wheeler he ever owned so u can imagine the life it has had.
