Default I have a new Phoenix (with problems)

I took delivery of my sons new Phoenix 3 weeks ago. When we started it up at the dealer the top end was EXTREMELY noisy. It sounded as if there was an inch of clearance for the rocker arms !!!! I asked the service guy if this was normal and he blankly looked at me and said,"I don't know, this is the first one we got in." It does quiet down a LITTLE when it gets warmed up but is still noticeable even over the somewhat loud exhaust. Also, everytime he gets off the throttle, it backfires. Dealer said it was normal !?!?!?!? Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good quad for the price but those two problems really annoy me !!! Anyone out there have one of these with similar problems ?

I too took delivery of the first 2005 Phoenix, the sales department notified me to break her in very easy which I was doing. On the first day out 45 minutes in there is a brass plug right by the oil filter, anyhow it started spewing oil & I was forced to take it back.

I have no answer on the noise issue, mine was actually quiet. Any how I do have a chip with Polaris' customer service, I was told by me dealer that the part was going to be sent "overnight express" and here it is one week later and they are still telling me they have not received the part, can you imagine? an 05' and I'm sitting here waiting.

I hope no one runs into what happened to me.

hey Horseplay and bansai,

First I would like to be the first to welcome you both to the forums. There is lots of information that will help you when you need it. I would take it back under warrenty, and if the dealer starts to stiff you, go directly to polairs. Polaris is normally a good company that will provide excelent consumer services.

I hope you get the problems figured out!

it's every man's opinion, if he wants a Pheonix, then he can have one. he doesn't need a damn rally

Hey thanks DG, Just got home today and should I be surprised the dealer has not called to pick her up? (a week tomorrow)
If I knew about all of this a rally would have been in the shed.

I really based my purchase on the size, and mostly the price. Last quad I rode was a quadrunner I would say 1988??

Don't lose hope. I do believe they are a decent machine. Most of Polaris stuff can be overnighted. This one being built in Taiwan may make it difficult. I realize Polaris should have had spare parts sitting ahead of time, but I think the Pheonix was a rush to market deal. You have a brand new model. If you watch these forums much you will soon realize there are always glitches with new models. Even the Rally had several glitches.(it still has a couple)
