The 90 should be just fine for a 10 year old. I'm 6'6 and just took a spin on the 05 pred 90 that I just bought for my 8 year old. Do not get a blaster for a 10 year old unless they have a lot of experience. It's too peppy and too fast for someone who doesn't know how to shift their weight. Something like that Is why the government forced the manufactures into the ludicrous ratings that are now in place. Accordingly my son shouldn't even be riding the 90. But that's a little unreasonable as he can't even fit on a 50. His knees would hit the handlebars.
Sorry, got a little side tracked. The 90 should be perfect. Plus they retain their value. I couldn't find a used 90 for less then 1800. And I've been looking for 2 years. The pred 90 also has lots of hop ups. I've even heard of a modded pred 90 beating a ds650 in a short drag. Never saw it personnaly though. 2 strokes are still the way to go when dealing with small motors.

The Suzuki LT 80 has always been the fastest kids bike (with all three limiters off), but it has almost NO suspension. The Polaris 90 is also a two stroke but not quite as peppy as the LT80, however it has pretty good suspension and it now has reverse. For kids learning to ride I favor suspension over power. These are the best two of the under-100 quads. JMO.
The newer small Taiwanese bikes are cheaper, but you tend to get what you pay for.
The Breeze is very reliable, that's why the rentals use them. But no guts.
The Raptor 80 is just an old machine with new plastic, and it is a DOG.
A 10 year old on a Blaster better be a big kid with lots of experience and good skills. Not a bike to learn on.
(And a ten year old would soon learn how to re-adjust the limiter.)
Some folks have gone to the Honda and Suzuki 250s to fill the gap between the 80 and the Blaster.
If he is an aggressive kid, go big....if not stay small.

kids change so much nowadays its hard to say if they will even be interested in it in 3 years, id save a little dough and hit the E-tons, they get better and more reliable every year. i bought my son a 50 2 years ago at age eight, he was to big from the get go, but he then found out the limiter and proceded to take a corner to fast bounce and head facemask first into a tree trunk, i was thinking to myself thank god, i did'nt buy anything faster, he prolly woulda did some real damage to the nogin lol. so to me, a bike needs to be a perfect fit, not like jeans where he can grow into it, jeans dont roll over on top of you . so to make a small story to long. in a few weeks ill be getting him the pred.90 fits him just right and 1800.00 aint bad, for something that he can handle with no problems.

a 90 is too small, when i was 8 i had a blaster for my first quad...just use a limiter, cuz in 2 years when hes 12 he'd laught at you if that was his only wheeler still, or yeah the pheonix atleast, its bigg enough for him to ride for years unlike a 90...there slow too kinda something like 35MPH....and fully automatic...hell even a eton yukon 150 is better then a 90...

my little bro has the 90 and it is a ton of fun even for me. it is pretty slow when you are in the open fast trails, but can really suprise you with the things it can do if you got the guts to try. i have to say that it is not meant for riding though puddles or water of any sorts. the air box blows. if your son has a bit of experience or fits well on the phoenix id say get that instead of the smaller machine

Did yall catch the original date on this post. Feb 2 of 05. Polaris700sportsman never did say what he ended up doing. I hate it when people post something then dont reply to what they did. Well maybe not hate but it bugs me. Anyway my kids have a SP90 same motor and such as the pred90. It's run great.
