check the yamaha forum.
They have been know for week axils and breakage. Also the vapor lock stall problems with steam.
The Griz is a little bit more tippy than a sportsman, but it will have a lot more power than a 500.
I would look into maybe a trade up to a 700 EFI!

the grizzly is a nice quad and was in the top four when I was making my decision. overall I liked the polaris better and it had all the features I was looking for. all the quads have their issues so it's not just yamaha or polaris or honda it's all of them. when I was looking for a quad the dealer had a new 04 grizz on the showroom floor with a lift and the bigfoot kit(don't remember what size or tire combo though) and it looked sweet. as for the should I trade question, you may want to wait to trade the 500 in on a nw 500EFI if it's true that polaris is going to produce it. was the trade through a dealer or private seller? if it's a dealer what is the trade in value, you should sell it on here to someone looking to upgrade from a sport or 400 or something!

Don't do it. I can see your point with the grizz being lighter and sportier but you will miss the comfort, stability, strength, and ease of use of the AWD of your Polaris. You can get an SP600 for nearly the same price as the 500 but the power gains would only really be down low and a bit of top end. Why don't you hold out for the 500 EFI that has been rumored to be coming out next year. If you really want speed in a utility machine you can't beat the Kawi Prairie 700 and the Brute 650, which is the same bike with different plastic, is even cheaper, I've seen them at $5400. For the $$ you can't beat them but again you sacrifice the Polaris perks above. Good luck.

The heel clicker made the engagment right off idle and took away alot of normal belt slipage.Im still playing with springs and weight to find what I want.
The dial a junk(IMO) well look at the topic here in the Polaris fourm(dial ajet blowing fuel out pt2) you will see that im haveing problems with it. I think id like it if I can stop the problem. A lot of people like them and say it makes a difference. The new exhaust and mod air box +k&n filter made a big difference.
